Summary:
The scope of this position includes managing the flow of student data between various software systems and protecting the district’s data from unauthorized access.
Whenever new software/services are being implemented, this person is responsible for initial data population and automating the ongoing data sync.
This person will also work with school registrars to ensure accurate and consistent data entry in eSchool.
This person will familiarize themselves with the varied software that is utilized by the district and become a local "expert" that can assist other people in the district.
Manage the synchronization of student/employee data from various sources to the dozens of software and services that we use.
Assist software/services users with initial implementation.
Maintain local databases that house student/employee data.
Create reports as needed by stakeholders.
Implement and maintain tools to enable users to run reports of their own design. (This could include Crystal Reports or Tableau.)
Collaborate with consultants to maintain in-house Filemaker application.
Collaborate with existing consultant to maintain student on-boarding/off boarding solution.
Write new scripts and/or modify existing scripts to augment the existing solution. Existing languages include: PowerShell, batch, SQL, python, javascript, bash, and perl.
Create and maintain an employee on-boarding solution that works along with our existing software/services. Existing work process is manual, you will be creating an automated process and developing the code.
Requirements:
This full-time position requires a person who has the technical knowledge and sufficient understanding to comprehend the entire scope of technology administrative and instructional utilization in a school district. This person must have specific programming and computer diagnostic skills sufficient to solve problems, maintain security, implement technology utilization, and maintain the day-to-day network/Internet operations throughout the District.
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitor and troubleshoot data synchronization between all our software systems.
- Ensure data and system security by protecting district information from unauthorized access, use, or interruption.
- Research and recommend security practices to mitigate risk when onboarding new software/services.
- Monitor and evaluate data security implemented in the system; work to reduce risk to district data resources.
- Drive an automobile on district business.
- Exercise discretion and judgment regularly in performing other essential job functions.
- Maintain good punctuality and attendance at work.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Understanding of Active Directory, Google Admin, and EntraID.
- Scripting experience. (preferably PowerShell,Bash,SQL).
- Ability to write complex SQL queries.
- Database administration (MySQL, MS SQL, etc.)
- Report writing.
- Knowledge of software installation, testing, and operation.
- Ability and enthusiasm to assist users and trainers with software.
- Ability to assist users and trainers with basic hardware troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of local area and wide area networks fundamental concepts.
- Knowledge of the principles of data structures, organization, and best practices.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills. You will be interacting with various administrators and other support staff throughout the district. You will be a face of the department.

- Documentation and process oriented, keep documentation up to date.

- Ability to train educators and support staff in the use of software.

- Must have background education and experience in technology applications.

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience data engineering.
- College degree preferred.
- Available to work extended hours as necessary.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
